Kuomboka means ‘to get out of water’, in the Lozi language of Western province Zambia. The Koumoboka ceremony celebrates the move of the Litunga, king of the Lozi people, from his compound at Lealui in the Barotse Floodplain to Limulunga, which is on higher ground. The Barotse Floodplain is located on the Zambezi River, in Western province.
