Climate and weather are a major consideration when visiting our beautiful country. Zambia lies south of the Equator but above the Tropical of Capricorn which entails the country has got a tropical (savannah) climate. The larger part of the country has weather which can be classified as tropical wet and dry while there are few semi-arid steppe areas in the south western parts of the country. There are two main seasons in Zambia that is; the rainy season which runs from November to April and the dry season which runs from May to October.

The rainy season is also the country’s summer while the dry season is winter. The maximum day temperatures occur during the months of September/October and are usually around 31°C/88° while minimum day temperatures occur during the chilly months of June/July are usually around 10°C/50°F. Note should be taken when visiting certain parts of the country such the valleys which get extremely hot during the hot season with temperatures reaching as high as 40°C/104°F. Therefore, it advised to carry sunscreen products when moving around the country, especially during outdoor activities.
